PRESS RELEASE

7th April 2006

UNITED KINGDOM SAILING ACADEMY INTRODUCES ‘ASSISTED TRAVEL’ TO ITS AUGUST AND EASTER SUMMER CAMP & ACTIVITY CAMP COURSES FOR YOUNGSTERS AGED 8-16.

wThe UK Sailing Academy are now making it easier to get youngsters to the Isle of Wight with ‘assisted travel’ on their Summer Camp Courses. Jeremy Waitt, UKSA Schools and Youth Careers Manager says, “The problem of dropping your kids off on the Isle of Wight for our popular Summer Camp courses has often meant expensive and time consuming journeys to the Island.

For a lot of parents looking for something to do with kids this summer that isn’t too expensive and keeps them active whilst learning new skills like sailing, windsurfing and kayaking, we have found a solution. The ‘assisted travel’ now means we meet the youngsters at Southampton Train station or the Red Funnel ferry terminal and bring them across the Solent to UKSA saving parents both time and money”.

‘Assisted Travel’ costs £30 with a second child at half price. It includes all travel costs from Southampton station to UKSA or £25 from Red Funnel’s Southampton terminal to UKSA.

For parents happy to put their children on a train, UKSA staff will be there to meet them at Southampton and provide them with a courtesy phone as soon as the children are collected from the train, providing parents with peace of mind.

UKSA Summer camps run every Easter and throughout August, offering youngsters with a 5 or 7 day residential trip. Kids are kept active all day and are introduced to watersports activities such as sailing, windsurfing, kayaking along with fun on-land sessions including kite flying during the day. The evening programme is full of fun with organised activities like beach games, crab fishing, swimming and pool games. UKSA has a great reputation for safety, fun learning and its a great way to get the kids active this summer leaving parents free to get on with things or alternatively take a well earned rest! Course prices start at £140 per week over Easter and £335 for 7 days in the summer. ‘Assisted Travel’ is only £30 with a second child going at half price.
